NEW ABORTION SUPERVISORY COMMITTEE

On Thursday 14 June 2007 Parliament appointed the following persons:

Professor Linda Jane Holloway DCNZM of Dunedin to be chairperson

Dr Rosemary Jane Fenwicke of Wellington

Patricia Ann Allan of Christchurch (lay member)

In the parliamentary debate there were two amendments:

(1) Mr Gordon Copeland (Independent) proposed that Dr Ate Moala replace Dr Rosemary Fenwicke. The amendment was defeated 81-36.

(2) Mr Peter Brown (NZ First) proposed that Dr Peter Hall replace Patricia Allan. The amendment was defeated 76-29.

When the vote was taken on the appointment of the new committee the voting was 102-11 with 5 abstentions.
